All Good Things Come To An End

Albeit a short-term end.  Finally, we were able to join the ranks of many others and put our Kindergarden year behind us.  That we didn't finish by June 1st with many of the public schools, or those home schoolers who've got it all together, doesn't really matter.  That happens to be one of the blessings of home school.  You go with the pace your child needs, you are able to work around the variety of interruptions to your day we call life.

The important thing is we finished.  We completed all we needed to.  He knows his A-B-C's, the names and sounds, he can read simple books using the sight words he learned, he's doing beginning math problems, and SO much more.  More importantly he learned more about God this past year.

Each letter learned brought about a phrase, or what we called our "words to remember."  Our final words to remember were an awesome compilation of the ones we learned all year - - "Thank you, God, for this beautiful world."   What is more applicable than that?  It's what little one's need to learn and it's what us adults need to be reminded of also from time to time when complacency decides to take over.

I edited this post to add these two photos of Caleb from his last day of school.  I'd forgotten I'd taken them.

Johnny surprised us the day we officially finished the last K worksheets and were able to say, "it's a wrap!"  Beautiful roses for mom and a surprised Captain American and motorcycle set for Caleb.  Unexpected pats on the back are the best kind!   Thank you Johnny for being our support system.  Our silent cheerleader.  Everyone needs to know they have one of those!!  I know this home school mom would not have made it through the past year without your words of encouragement.

Caleb and I look forward to what 1st grade is going to bring into our lives.  If he had his way, we would have already started!  The day we finished Kinder he was ready to keep on trucking.  It's this 45 yr old brain of mine that needs a little more time to figure out what our day is going to look like and have all we need in place and ready to go!

So, look out 1st grade.  Here come the Parkers!!!

God bless,
Pam
