It was actually sorta fun buying school supplies this year. When you're home schooling, your list doesn't exactly match those of the public school system. While we also needed a binder or two and some fresh colors, we also needed the following: rope, coffee filters, a large glass jar (for our worm hotel, masking tape, twine, dowels, pipe cleaners, to name a few.
There were just as many creative items on our list that are not pictured here: empty spools from thread, magnifying glass, material, egg cartons, and the list goes on and on.
I think my two of my favorite finds this year were these itty bitty clothes pins and ABC wooden beads.
What would we possibly need with tiny clothespins? Well, we'll be working on a bible time line in the near future and what better way to display our time line than on some string and clipping them with clothes pins...??? We don't have a lot of wall space, so we're going to hang it on along our beautiful new school shelves so it's right there when we need it.
And the beads? Well, we do a lot of hands on learning and what could be more fun to practice spelling words with colorful beads?
For the last few days I worked on our binders.
One for me.....
And one for Caleb....
To say we have everything we need would be a lie. Monday after school we'll have to travel to a bait shop to buy some worms for our worm hotel. With this drought, I think we could dig for a very long time before we found a worm around our home! And that would mean renting a jack-hammer to get through this concrete we have for soil right now. Ha!
Grandma Dianne is rounding up some supplies for us like the magnifying glass, empty spools of thread, some materials and a few other things that she had from our list! We'll have to get by her house to pick them up very soon!!
This post is going up on our first day of school. I'll get back to you later and let you know how it went.
In His Name,
Pam
